Santa Specials, Christmas Trains, and Festive Markets: Here’s What’s Happening in Norfolk this Christmas!

Sheringham Santa Special 2022

A magical experience which has become an annual tradition for many across Norfolk. This festive steam train ride takes passengers on a joyful journey all the way to Holt before travelling back to Weybourne to meet a special guest dressed in red!

Make your way through the enchanted Christmas tree kingdom only to find Santa Clause himself, who will be handing out gifts to all the lucky boys and girls!

Trains operate between the 26 November all the way through to the 23rd December. Book soon to avoid missing out!

Norfolk Lights Express

Introduced in 2019, this already winter classic has become hugely popular for families across Norfolk.

Arrive at Sheringham station after dark, as the Norfolk Lights Express pulls into the station illuminating the platform with it’s thousands of tiny lights!

From here all passengers board as the train steams through to Holt and back, lighting up the Norfolk countryside like you’ve never seen it before. Keep your eyes peeled on route, and look out for the 10 colourful lit-up dioramas on the lineside or set in the woods. Onboard music and narration truly brings this experience to life!

A bar and refreshments are available onboard, with tickets available between the 18th November and the 3rd January.

Thursford Christmas Spectacular

Quite possibly the biggest Christmas celebration in the county, Thursford Christmas Spectacular returns this year and brings night of entertainment filled with singing, dancing, music, and humour!

A fast moving extravaganza brought to life by a cast of 130, tickets will not be available for long for this seasonal classic.

The show runs between the 8th November and 23rd December with tickets starting at £41.

Pensthorpe Christmas Market

Christmas just isn’t the same without a Christmas market, and this year at Pensthorpe Nature Reserve you can get into the festive spirit whilst picking a up a few gifts for your loved ones.

Attended by a range of food and drink suppliers, artists, and craft makers, visitors can look forward to buying some unique presents and of course enjoying some tasty treats!

Dippy’s Christmas Celebration

Visit Roarr Dinosaur Adventure Park this winter to join up with Dippy and Father Christmas in spreading some Christmas cheer! Featuring both a day time and evening attraction, called “Jingle all the Day” and “Sparkle in the Dark”.

For the daytime event visitors can look forward to hanging out with Santa Clause and his elves at the North Pole Christmas Cottage! Children will get to grab a photo with old big red, and even choose their favourite toy from under the tree!

Sparkle in the Dark will be available on selected evenings leading up to Christmas. Visitors will start their journey at the festive forest through to the North Pole where you’ll meet up with Mother Christmas, before travelling onto the magical Christmas Cottage! Warm yourself up with a tasty hot chocolate before meeting up with Father Christmas and even getting your very own present!

Mill House is conveniently located just 15-minutes from Roarr Dinosaur Adventure Park and Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, making it a perfect spot for a family getaway this Christmas.

Holkham Festival Craft and Food Festival

If you are lucky enough to find yourself on the North Norfolk coast this December, be sure to visit Holkham for it’s annual Christmas craft and food festival.

Taking place at The Lady Elizabeth Wing in Holkham Park, visitors can look forward to exploring the multitude of Christmas gifts on offer, with of course some delicious food and drinks available!

An ideal way to get into the festive spirit, they’ll also be live music on both the Saturday and Sunday.

The event takes place on the 10th and 11th of December, and entry is free for all (please note there are charges for parking if arriving by car).
