Reviews

"Very well equipped and comfortable wooden lodge with adjacent parking and own garden. Highly recommended."

Robert G on December 2023

"The place was ample and in a great location to explore the broads and the coastline. Hosts were very welcoming and always on hand to help and answer any questions we had. Lovely nature, seeing deer in the garden in the morning and kingfishers down at the nearby Broad. We would definitely return and recommend it to friends."

Location

The village of Neatishead is a quiet and unspoilt area of Norfolk. Although small, the village is home to several amenities including a pub, village shop, swimbarn (time share pool, bookable online), hair and beauty salon as well as its own staithe.

The White Horse Inn is just a few minute’s walk from Violet Lodge, and serves food and a range of beers from their own in house brewery. Also within walking distance is the community owned village shop selling fresh bread, grocery essentials, confectionery. You will also find freshly ground coffee and a selection of cakes available.

The surrounding lanes are a great place to walk and cycle. There are numerous idyllic country lanes and cycle routes to choose from including Weaver's Way, Paston Way and Marriot's Way. The Barton Boardwalk is a fantastic way to see the Barton Broad. Nearby, Alderfen Broad nature reserve is also accessible on foot. Budding photographers will find the area a beautiful spot for landscape photography, particularly with Norfolk's big skies as the backdrop.

There are few better ways to experience The Norfolk Broads than by boat, and 3 miles from the property is the village known as the 'Capital of The Norfolk Broads', Wroxham. Here guests can hire boats from one of the many boat hire companies, or can take a tour up the river and onto the nearby Broads. Within Wroxham there is also a multitude of restaurants, pubs, and cafes, many with riverside seating.

The East coast of Norfolk offers numerous sandy beaches, which are all within easy reach from the property. Sea Palling beach is around 10 miles away and offers the perfect spot for a day at the seaside, with a fish and chip shop, small arcade and parking all available directly by the beach. For those visiting during the winter months, Horsey Gap, another sandy beach offers the rare and exclusive chance to see one of the largest seal colonies in the whole of the UK. During the colder months, the seals come up onto the beach in great numbers and visitors get the rare opportunity to see new-born pups lying on the beach!

For those happy to travel a little further, areas of North Norfolk such as Cromer and Sheringham can be reached in just over half an hour, whilst Norwich City Centre can also be reached in about 30-minutes.
