Reviews

"We loved how spacious and cosy the cabin was, with everything we could need, including a well stocked kitchen, a fabulous bathroom with large shower, and even room for a king size bed. It has all been beautifully designed and fitted out by the owners, set in the grounds of the property overlooking a large lawn and mature trees. We would highly recommend a visit to Violet Cottage, and really hope to go back again sometime soon. Simon and Tricia are lovely, and can't do enough for you."

"Very well equipped and comfortable wooden lodge with adjacent parking and own garden. Highly recommended."

Robert G on December 2023

"The place was ample and in a great location to explore the broads and the coastline. Hosts were very welcoming and always on hand to help and answer any questions we had. Lovely nature, seeing deer in the garden in the morning and kingfishers down at the nearby Broad. We would definitely return and recommend it to friends."

Location

The village of Neatishead is a tranquil and unspoiled area of Norfolk, offering a perfect blend of rural charm and essential amenities. Within the village, you'll find a pub, a village shop, a time-share swimming pool (bookable online), a hair and beauty salon, and its own staithe.

A few minutes' walk from Violet Lodge is The White Horse Inn, which serves delicious food and a range of beers from their in-house brewery. Also within walking distance is the community-owned village shop, which offers fresh bread, grocery essentials, confectionery, and freshly ground coffee with a selection of cakes.

The surrounding lanes are ideal for walking and cycling, with numerous idyllic routes such as Weaver's Way, Paston Way, and Marriott's Way. The Barton Boardwalk provides a fantastic way to explore Barton Broad, while the nearby Alderfen Broad nature reserve is also accessible on foot. Photographers will love the stunning landscape, especially with Norfolk's expansive skies as a backdrop.

A few miles away is Wroxham, known as the 'Capital of The Norfolk Broads'. Here, guests can hire boats from various boat hire companies or take a river tour. Wroxham also offers a range of riverside restaurants, pubs, and cafes.

The East Coast of Norfolk features numerous sandy beaches within easy reach. Sea Palling beach, around 10 miles away, is perfect for a seaside day with amenities such as a fish and chip shop, small arcade, and parking available by the beach. Horsey Gap, another nearby beach, is famous for its large seal colony, especially during winter months when visitors can see newborn pups on the beach.

For those willing to travel a bit further, the areas of North Norfolk, including Cromer and Sheringham, are just over half an hour away. Norwich City Centre is also reachable in about 30 minutes, offering even more attractions and dining options.
