Reviews

"The one-level cottage is totally gorgeous, the high ceiling means that it feels very spacious. "

"The property was excellent throughout."

"Great place, great setting and a great location! We have just spent a fabulous week at Nicholson Cottage, in total comfort, with everything we needed and more. The property and surroundings are all very dog friendly. We enjoyed the short walk to Happisburgh beach along the coastal path (often via the pub, The Hill House Inn). Although we enjoyed trips out, we were always pleased to get back to Happisburgh, it really is a lovely location. We will be back!"

"We stayed at this delightful cottage for a long weekend in June & couldn't have wished for a lovelier place to relax. Well situated, the cottage is tastefully decorated & the garden is just lovely. With the generous welcome pack, we found the cottage to be very comfortable & a home from home. Nicholson Cottage is an ideal base for visiting this fabulous corner of Norfolk- with the coast on the doorstep & plenty of tasty places to eat. We will definitely come here again!"

Ruth Wakefield on July 2023

"Nicholson cottage is a real gem, mixing beautiful original features with stylish decor. Super clean through out with all new appliances and lovely big beds. The garden is a delightful space for breakfast or sundowners. The village has a good pub with a fine choice of beers and the local beach is sandy and stretches for miles. It’s also a great base for exploring everything the North Norfolk coast has to offer. "

Tris H on July 2023

"We have just returned from a fabulous few days break at Nicholson Cottage. The owner has made the cottage the perfect base to explore & enjoy the northeast coast of Norfolk. This includes two spacious double bedrooms with comfy beds, a lovely open plan kitchen/living area, squidgy sofas, & a suntrap courtyard garden to enjoy alfresco living. The beaches are nearby & the friendly Hill House Pub serves excellent fish and chips, just a short walk away. We loved it and can't wait to go back."

David M on June 2023

"An absolute gem of a cottage, perfectly placed only walking distance from the cliffs and the beach. Happisburgh is a gorgeous chocolate box of a village - really lovely to walk through popping into the pub. The cottage is really beautifully equipped - lovely bedrooms and living space. Absolutely everything you need and a sun trap garden had us sitting outside the whole stay and was super secure for our dog Alfie, who also loved the whole experience. Much to see and do locally so we'll be back!"

Location

Nestled along the stunning 90-mile Norfolk coastline, discover the picturesque village of Happisburgh. Steeped in history, this historical Norfolk village is renowned for its iconic lighthouse proudly standing against the backdrop of an expansive sandy beach. Notably, it holds the distinction of being the last independently operated lighthouse in the UK, easily recognizable by its striking red and white stripes. The sandy beach, one of Norfolk's finest, is dog-friendly and offers coastal walks that extend all the way to Sea Palling.

Unmatched in their beauty, this area boasts a plethora of stunning beaches, each with its own unique charm and characteristics. Experience a classic seaside day at Sea Palling, with excellent swimming areas and the familiar amenities of arcades and fish and chip shops. Venture south of Happisburgh to Horsey Beach, where one of the largest seal colonies in the UK provides a breath-taking spectacle rarely seen elsewhere. With Mundesley only a short 15-minute drive away and the allure of Cromer within easy reach, the possibilities for seaside exploration are endless.

For those seeking alternatives to beaches, explore the nearby Norfolk Broads—an expansive network of rivers ideal for boating, fishing, and wildlife spotting. Visit the delightful market town of North Walsham or immerse yourself in history at Blickling Hall, a magnificent Jacobean mansion surrounded by stunning gardens. Families can head to Bewilderwood, an award-winning outdoor forest adventure, for a day of thrilling fun.
