North Norfolk

Mundesley is one of Norfolk’s charming Victorian seaside villages and is home to a large sandy beach positioned on the east of the North Norfolk coast. The town features pretty cliff top gardens to sit and relax in as well as an amusements arcade and crazy golf.

Stroll along the cliff top promenade taking in the views and pay a visit to Mundesley Maritime Museum and Memorial. The village is a great starting point for country walks and is a natural stopping point along the Norfolk Coastal Path.

The beach

Lined with colourful wooden beach huts the beach has been awarded Blue Flag status multiple years in a row and has a lifeguard during the summer months.

Mundesley sits between Cromer and Walcott, you can actually walk all the way to Sea Palling along the beach, depending on tide times!

A marvellous beach for those looking for somewhere a little quieter than the likes of Cromer. Child friendly, this beach is perhaps a little more ideal for those with little’uns as even when the sea is out it is still possible to swim and paddle. Unlike somewhere like Holkham where the sea goes out so far, you’ll be tired before you even reach the water!

The Area

In the village of Mundesley there’s several small cafes, and pubs serving traditional food. You’ll also find a fish and chip cafe as well as several other small shops.
Mundesley also boasts perhaps the smallest museum in the country. The Maritime Museum is situated very close to a memorial which is to commemorate the 26 Royal Engineer Bomb Disposal personnel who lost their lives clearing away WW2 landmines from the cliffs.
Inside the museum itself you’ll find photographs documenting the history of the Norfolk coast, as well as equipment (old and new) showing the work of the coast guard.
Nearby Mundesley, Stow Mill is one of the best windmills in Norfolk and is well worth driving by.
