Frettenham is a small civil parish located just six miles northeast of Norwich, and close to popular towns and villages on The Norfolk Broads such as Horstead, Coltishall, and Wroxham. From the Paddocks, there are several pubs close-by, with The White Horse just under 10-minutes away on foot, whilst The Rose and Crown is just over 1 mile from the property. A fruit and veg store is reachable on foot and there's a local farm shop and just a few minutes away by car. For larger shops and supermarkets there is a Co-op a mile and a half away, and a Morrisons 3.4 miles away.

For those looking to explore wider areas of Norfolk, the likes of Coltishall and Wroxham should be high up on your list. Coltishall, attached to sister village Horstead, offers river access for those who enjoy canoeing or water activities, as well a riverside pub for those looking to enjoy a drink or bite to eat watching the river flow by. Highly recommended, The Recruiting Sergeant restaurant in Horstead is the perfect place for an evening meal, or lunch time bite after a busy day enjoying one of the many riverside or nature walks local to the area.

Wroxham, often labelled the 'capital of the Norfolk Broads', is a hub for many who wish to hire a boat to enjoy the many river canals and Broads which are reachable within a short distance. See how far you can get in a day, or simply take a leisurely trip up the river and enjoy the many sights and areas to explore along the way. There's several pubs and restaurants on route also, meaning there's no need to pack a lunch! Wroxham itself is lined with cafes, bakeries, and eateries, along with various other shops, garden centres and Roys of Wroxham.

Norwich City is about 15-minutes away by car, or there are trains available from Wroxham for those who would rather avoid parking in the city centre. Norwich itself is a historic city, with a vibrant culture and many attractions, restaurants, and shops. Norwich Cathedral is open for visitors 7-days a week, and offers guided tours, with a small café also available. Whether you're looking for somewhere to eat, or just simply hunting for a bargain, make sure to take a wander through Norwich Lanes, which is lined with independent stores and cafes. It wouldn't be a visit to Norwich, without a browse around the city's 12th century market which for many is the heart and soul of the city.

Many of the East Norfolk beaches can be reached in around 30-minutes from The Paddocks. We'd highly recommend a visit to Sea Palling, perfect for a walk, or day at the seaside, with parking, cafe and fish and chips shop all available. If you still have a day to fill, North Norfolk and its many beachside towns such as Cromer and Sheringham can be reached in about half an hour by car, or via a train from Wroxham.
