**NEW FOR 2022** Seal Cottage is a charming 3-bedroom semi-detached holiday home set on a peaceful countryside lane just a 15-minute walk from the coast! Perfect for wildlife enthusiasts, there are footpaths from the cottage that lead directly to areas of The Norfolk Broads, and to sandy beaches!

Accommodating up to 5 guests, this fantastic property features 3-bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen-dining area, and a spacious garden with fabulous, far-reaching views.

The nearest beach known as Horsey Gap, is beautifully sandy and a fantastic place to escape the tourist crowds. It’s renowned as one of the best locations to see grey seals swimming out at sea during the summer (occasionally lounging on the shore too!). During the winter months visitors have the very special chance to see the baby pups, often spanning along the whole beach. Reach Horsey Gap in under 15 minutes on foot!

Driveway parking is available for 2 cars.


The Space

Having undergone extensive refurbishment in recent years, the cottage offers modern facilities whilst retaining its rural rustic charm.

Seal Cottage features an open plan kitchen-dining area, with dining seating available for 6 guests. The fully equipped kitchen is stocked with all the utensils you’ll need for cooking up family lunches, and evening meals! We’d highly recommend picking up the catch of the day from the local fish mongers in Ormesby, located in Hirst’s farm shop with Café!

The cosy living room features comfortable seating, a wood burner for those colder evenings, with games, DVDs and books provided to keep the children entertained!

Upstairs guests will find two double bedrooms with king sized beds, one twin room with 2 single beds and a family bathroom. All bedrooms offer clothing storage, with built in cupboards available in the two double bedrooms, and a chest of drawers in the twin room. The family bathroom offers a shower over bath, toilet, and wash basin.

An additional W/C and shower room are located on the ground floor.

Out through the patio doors leads to the spacious garden, with outdoor seating and a BBQ available. There’s also an undercover shelter which is ideal for storing bicycles.

Additional Information

1-2 small or medium sized dogs are welcome with prior agreement. Dogs are not allowed upstairs under any circumstances, and a stairgate is provided at the bottom of the stairs. Pets must also be kept off the furniture, and should not be left unattended in the property. All fouling on the lawn must be cleared up immediately.

Unfortunately this property is not suitable for larger dog breeds.


Offering superb access to some of Norfolk’s finest areas for wildlife and nature, Seal Cottage is set idyllically between one of Norfolk’s favourite Broads and most popular beaches.

Following one of the footpaths leading from the cottage, guests can reach the sandy seaside of Horsey Gap in under 15-minutes. A beautiful beach, famed within East Anglia for its huge Seal colony – one of the largest and most accessible in the UK! For those lucky enough to visit during the winter months, the seals start to have their pups between November and February with viewing possible from the designated areas in the dunes. A truly unique and heart-warming experience!

Venture along a different footpath from the cottage and guests will find themselves at Horsey Mere. A beautiful expanse of water and part of The Norfolk Broads, Horsey Mere is a terrific spot for walking and birdwatching. This area of Norfolk is known for its diverse wildlife and supports some of the largest populations of wild migratory water birds! Horsey is an internationally important site for wildlife, its European crane population which became extinct from the UK over 400 years ago were first nurtured by the property owner’s father in law’ (John Buxton - Norfolk Crane Story) and have now been successfully breeding for over 30 years.

There are several other beaches close-by which we would absolutely recommend visiting. Winterton-On-Sea is a beautiful beach, just under 5 miles South of the property, and offers another opportunity to see the seals.

For sunbathers and families looking for a day out at the seaside, Sea Palling offers large sandy spaces along with a café, arcade, and fish and chips!

Close to the cottage, Poppylands Tearoom is less than 10 minutes’ walk away, whilst the Nelson’s Head pub can be reached in around 20-minutes on foot. For somewhere to eat in the evening, The Ingham Swan, which is around 6 miles away, comes highly recommended.

For those travelling with children, we'd highly advise a trip to the adventure park BeWILDerwood! A lovely day out for both adults and children and can be reached in under half an hour by car!

Wroxham and Hoveton, known as the capital of The Norfolk Broads, is about 30 minutes drive away, offering riverside pubs, cafes, and shops, along with day boat hire for those looking to explore The Broads! Wroxham Barns, which offers shops, boutiques, crafts studios, kid farm and funfair, is also well worth a visit.

For those looking to travel a little further, Norwich and Cromer can both be reached in 40-50 minutes and offer a further host of restaurants, cafes and shops!
