**NEW FOR 2022**

Curlew Cottage is a semi detached bungalow in an idyllic coastal location between Horsey Beach (famous for its seals) and The Broads.

Being in a special and unspoilt part of Norfolk, it’s just a 20 minute walk from Horsey Gap, a wonderful sandy beach, which offers the fantastic opportunity to see one of the largest colonies of seals in the country   All year round you should spot seals bobbing around in the water and occasionally lounging on the beach too.  If visiting during the winter you will even see the baby seal pups.

As well as being close to Horsey Beach, Horsey Mere on the Norfolk Broads is also a short walk away, with a National Trust permissive path direct to the windmill.   Horsey Mere is a stunning Broad, being a real treat for wildlife and nature enthusiasts!

Curlew Cottage is a fantastic 2 bedroom cottage, with homely touches throughout, and the bonus of a large, enclosed and spacious rear garden!

There is off street parking at the cottage for up to 2 cars.

Tip: For those looking to travel with another family/group, then why not consider booking neighbouring property The Old Post Office also!

The Space

A charming cottage with a homely décor, Curlew Cottage prioritises both comfort and convenience to ensure guests have a pleasant stay. The property features a king-sized bedroom, one twin, a lounge, fully equipped kitchen, and family bathroom.

Semi-open plan, the kitchen, dining table and lounge are all connected, with ample space for relaxing on the comfortable sofa, enjoying a family breakfast, or cooking up an evening delight.

The fully equipped kitchen is stocked with utensils, with key amenities available including a fridge with small freezer compartment, dishwasher and washing machine.

Location

If you’re looking for a restful and stress-free stay, then Curlew Cottage is the perfect choice. Due to it’s fabulous location if you choose not to, there is no need to drive all weekend! Whether it’s The Broads you're after, or a trip to the beach, nearly everything can be reached by foot!

Horsey Gap, a beach famed for its gigantic seal colony is about 20-minutes away on foot. A magnificent sight, this is a rare opportunity to see hundreds of seals basking in the sun lining the beach. If visiting during late November and February you may even get the chance to see a fresh-faced seal pup, who are born around this time of year. Certain areas of the beach are cordoned off, however along the dunes there are several viewing platforms to see those cute furry faces!

Horsey is an internationally important site for wildlife, its European crane population which became extinct from the UK over 400 years ago were first nurtured by the property's father in law (John Buxton - ‘Norfolk Crane Story’) and have now been successfully breeding for over 30 years.

Along another footpath from the cottage guests will find themselves at The Norfolk Broad known as Horsey Mere. One of the more northerly Broads, it’s a great spot for wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers. We’d also highly recommend going on Ross's wildlife boat trip (April - Oct) from Horsey Staithe! For panoramic views, make sure to take a look at Horsey windpump and mill which is also Horsey Staithe.

A little further afield, popular family-friendly beach, Sea Palling can be reached by car in about 10-minutes, with Winterton-on-Sea (another great beach to see the seals) also about 10-minutes drive away in the other direction.

If committed to not using the car, then you’re in luck that the Nelson’s Head is less than 100 yards from your door. A lovely family-friendly pub which offers good food and local ales. We’d also recommend Poppylands Café which is also within reach on foot!
